With evidence provided by the WHO (World Health Organisation): Thermal Inactivation Of Bacteria, Viruses and Protozoa in 2015; it is proven that higher temperatures dramatically shorten the inactivation time of bacteria and viruses.

Example 1 (Hepatitis A): At 75°C, it takes 30 seconds for a 99.999% inactivation of Hepatitis, equivalent to 5-log reduction (Parry & Mortimer 1984, a method for estimating residual infections after heat treatment). An increase of just 5 °C to 80°C dramatically reduces the time to for a 99.999% inactivation of the virus to 5 seconds.

Example 2 (Coronavirus): At 47°C, it takes 19 hours for a 99.99% inactivation of coronavirus, equivalent to a 4-log reduction. An increase of 8°Cto 55 °C reduces the time for a 99.99% inactivation of the virus to just 2 hours.

In short, there is a clear positive correlation between temperature and the inactivation of bacteria and viruses.

 

EcoAir commissioned a trusted SGS report on the effectiveness of running the DD1 Classic in a chamber to determine the bacteria reduction rate. This report asserts a 95.2% elimination of bacteria in an hour within a 7.7m3 chamber DD1 Classic.

The engine in our Desiccant dehumidifier is our 'Desiccant Rotor'; which absorbs smaller particles including water molecules, bacteria, micronism and virus particles. Meanwhile, particles which attach to the 'Desiccant Rotor' rotate into the heated zone of the unit which is subjected to UHT (Ultra High Temperature of 200°C to 500°C) for 30 seconds. The thermal energy serves two purposes: detaching the water molecules from the 'Desiccant Rotor' and also incinerating and inactivating bacteria, microorganisms and virus particles.
